1. A Moveable Feast Marker
Inscription. Captain Will Colonna's shipyard launched many vessels that could each other continents, but only one that shuttled between different worlds. Moored most of the year near Norfolk, Va. Colonna's footing retreat—a two-story house with wraparound porches built in 1927 on a nineteenth-century pontoon—entertained Tidewater society. But every hunting season, a tugboat towed it to Buffalo City, NC., of friends, relatives, and business associates, for a lively sojourn among deer, bears, and moonshiners. Stuck up a creek her the 1936 hurricane, a become a permanent dwelling in present-day Chesapeake, Va. In 2013, the living quarters were put on pilings by the some company that moved Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in 1999.
