Inscription.
This Gulf Style wood frame vernacular cottage is typical of architectural design for small homes built in our area during the first half of the 20th century.

Originally constructed on Fisher Road near historic Curlew United Methodist Church, it was constructed around 1935 by Bert Sutton, grandson of John Alexander Sutton, one of North Pinellas' founding homesteaders. The two-room structure was home for Bert's daughter, Annie Lee, her husband, Henry K. Tilley, and daughter, Jo Ann. The simple dwelling provided shelter and sleeping quarters. Most activities of daily life were accomplished outdoors, or in other structures located on a working farm and citrus grove. In the original setting a water spigot was on the porch outside a back door. None of these features exist today.

In 2003, when residential expansion threatened to destroy this example of southern Depression era houses, the structure was relocated to the grounds of The Palm Harbor Museum.

In 2016, the Palm Harbor Historical Society refurbished the Grove House utilizing funding from a State of Florida Cultural Facilities grant, opening the structure to the public for the first time a year later in order to showcase a permanent exhibit featuring Palm Harbor's citrus industry.
