- Fanny J. Moon, 1891

Opportunity for Everyone
Woldumar Nature Center welcomes all learners. Some students, though visually impaired, have been able to experience nature by sensing sounds, smalls, and textures of the pond, lagoon, and woods.

Bees
Over the years, the beehives at Woldumar Nature Center have provided visitors with a large amount of honey. The beekeepers were often children. One particularly bountiful harvest in 1968 produced over a thousand pounds!

The Heritage Garden
Replicating pioneer life, conservation efforts at Woldumar Nature Center include a heritage garden beside the Moon Cabin. Seeds used in the garden were not genetically modified. Once harvested, plants are hung from the cabin rafters to dry.

The United Nations
Woldumar Nature Center was the only organization of its kind to receive an invitation to the United Nations' first global Conference on the Human Environment. Held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1972, director Richard Snider discussed the center's educational conservation efforts.

A Special Guest
Michigan's first lady, Helen Wallbank Milliken, wife of Governor William G. Milliken, visited Woldumar Nature Center in 1970 and 1971 to educate students about the importance of caring for the environment.
