Excerpt (in translation): Architect Georg Andreas Bull (1829-1917) was chief building inspector for 33 years until 1898 and chairman of the Society for Christiania Byes Vel 1904-08. He also designed the East Railway Station. Architect Ivar Nζss designed the local station building, built 1918-20.(Submitted on July 30, 2024.)
The western railway station led to major changes in Pipervika. Authorities could not agree on how to connect the city's two railway stations. The solution was the curious Oslo Port Line. Sjψgata was built to hide Vikas' impoverished settlement, and the harbor areawas improved.
After the station was closed, the building was threatened with demolition. Oslo Byes Vel and the Past Memory Association in 1992 founded "Friends of Vestbanens". Vestbanesstationen and the local station received protected status in 1994. The space in front of the station building was renamed Brynjulf Bull's Plaza in 1998.
