St. Joseph, MO. to Sacramento, CA. This fast-relay mail express, the only major trail solely used for communications, ran from April 1860 to October 1861. William Russell, Alexander Majors and William Waddell organized the Pony Express as a key enterprise of their Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Co.
