1. Dorothy "DJ" Landis Marker
Inscription.
Teacher, leader, mothering mentor, and mayor of New Cumberland for twenty years, DJ Landis embraced our community as if it was her family. She was one of the last surviving great leaders of the Post-World War II generation serving New Cumberland and Cumberland County.

For thirty-two-years, Dorothy taught elementary school in the West Shore School District and influenced the personal growth of so many youths. DJ served on New Cumberland Borough Council for ten years, prior to and after serving as mayor for an impressive five terms. She was active in a countless number of organizations and projects including the Olde Town Association, the Apple Festival, and the New Cumberland Public Library.

Dorothy Landis was a standout leader, always available to the public she served and the town she loved. Her selfless devotion to serving the community went above and beyond the common call, and thus she is awarded a place on the Path of Leadership at The Peiffer Memorial Arboretum and Nature Preserve, August 11, 2024.

"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." Proverbs 31:26
