1. Kellogg's Grove Marker

Inscription. The State of Illinois and United States Dept. of the Interior National Park Service have listed Kellogg's Grove in the National Register of Historic Places June 23, 1978

Most of the fighting took place from the cabins to two miles west where Black Hawk had set up a “Custer-like” ambush. Abe Lincoln with Militia men from Dixon came the next day in time to help bury Col. Dement's soldiers killed in combat. Kellogg's Grove – 56 acres battlefield designated on National Register of Historical Places, Washington D.C. 1978.
