1. Downtown Marks Marker
Inscription. Following the arrest of Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) organizer Willie Bolden and six others, students and teachers left Quitman County High School and marched through downtown Marks on their way to the Quitman County Jail, where they demanded the release of Bolden. The next day, similar marches took place through downtown Marks as people protested the arrest of Bolden and the others. (Marker Number 9.)
