The Algomah

In 1945, Cap Shepler founded Sheplers ferry service. The ferry service remained in Shepler family hands until 2022.
In December of 1944, the Algomah was sunk off the end of Central Ave. and used as the foundation for the Shepler Ferry dock. There she still resides. A new, similar-looking boat, the Algomah II, was added to the fleet of Straits boats in 1936.
