Inscription.
Austin F. Bement poses with his Packard, parked alongside of the "Ideal Section" in Dyer, Indiana, which runs from approximately Calumet Avenue in Dyer to Janice Drive in Schererville. Mr. Bement was Secretary of the Lincoln Highway Association.

The "Ideal Section" is 1.5 miles of Lincoln Highway. It was completed in 1923 and was designed and built as a model for road construction.Funded by county, state, and U.S. Rubber Co.  Features included a 100 foot right-of-way, 40 foot paved width, 10 inch steel-reinforced concrete, underground drainage, lighted, landscaped, bridge and pedestrian pathways.

The Lincoln Highway was conceived by Indiana entrepreneurCarl G. Fisher and was formally dedicated October 31. 1913.

The Lincoln Highway runs from New York City to San Francisco.
