1. Steamboat Anchor Marker

Inscription.
This six-foot, triangular pointed, kedge-style anchor, with a 41 inch base, was used on the steamboat “City of Syracuse” when it plied the water of Skaneateles Lake from 1901-1917.

When the 112-foot boat was salvaged and scuttled at the end of the village pier, the anchor was taken to the head of the lake where it rested for many years near the Glen Haven Hotel.

In 1983, during the Sesquicentennial, Don Stinson, Village Historian, presented the anchor to the Village of Skaneateles for display.

The anchor, however, remained in storage until it was mounted here in 2010.
