Inscription.
The white barn that now serves as the Eagle County Historical Society local history museum started out as part of a ranch located at the Eagle 1-70 interchange about where the Burger King parking lot is today. The barn was likely built about 1905 and was originally a horse barn.

Rancher Ross Chambers eventually acquired the property. He operated his "Castle Peak Dairy" business out of the big barn. In 1970 the state of Colorado purchased a right-of-way for the interstate highway which bisected the Chambers ranch. The historic barn had to be destroyed or moved. Ross' son Loren Chambers donated the building to the Historical Society with the stipulation that it be removed from the property.

After years of fundraising and hundreds of hours of volunteer help, the barn was moved to Chambers Park in 1984. The museum opened in 1989.
