1. 2014 Princess Anne Avenue Marker
Inscription. This Queen Anne house was built by John A. Kratz, an animal feed dealer turned bookkeeper. The generous front porch overlooks Jefferson Park, originally named Marshall Park. The house features decorative brickwork at the cornice with dentils and iron roof cresting. Three western bays project in a bow that terminates in a conical roof at the ornamental mansard roof. Mr. Kratz lived in the house until 1910, after which it was occupied by Morgan R. Mills, the President of the Virginia Equipment and Supply Company, Inc. This house is listed as a contributing structure to the Union Hill Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
