Jackson Cemetery
On March 25, 1808, George Jackson, son of John and Elizabeth Jackson, deeded his orchard place to his son John George as a cemetery for family and friends. The George Jackson farm was an outpost of pioneer Clarksburg and the scene of Indian raids.
Known burials in this plot are: Mary Payne Jackson, wife of John George Jackson; her mother, Mary Coles Payne, who was also the mother of Dolley Madison; John and Elizabeth Cummins Jackson; John George Jackson; James A. Duncan, husband of Columbia Jackson; John S. Duncan, husband of Floride C. Jackson; Mary Meigs Jackson, second wife of Judge John G. Jackson. The following children of John George Jackson are probably buried in this plot or nearby: Thomas Jefferson Jackson, Dolley Jackson, unnamed infant daughter, Richard Jackson, Eugenia Jackson and Madisonia Jackson. William Lowther Jackson is probably buried in this plot.

Jonathan Jackson, Clarksburg lawyer, and father of Thomas (later known as General Stonewall) Jackson, died March 26, 1826, at age 36. Elizabeth, Jonathan's daughter, died of typhoid fever at age seven on March 5, 1826. At the time, Thomas was two years old.
