1. Paiute Tribe Powwows Marker

Inscription. Long before European explorers and LDS pioneers arrived in this valley, it was inhabited by members of the Southern Paiute Tribe. The low, treeless knoll north of here was a site of Paiute Tribe powwows. The powwows started well before Johnson's Fort was built in the 1850s and continued until the 1920s. Many friendships were formed between the tribe members and local residents.
