Inscription.
The shallow lake five miles north of here was a popular recreational area for valley residents where families enjoyed dances, boat rides, mule rides, ice skating, and vacations. It also was an exchange station hosting freighters, mail carriers, and stage coach passengers. The old buildings and rock fence (which took 15 years to build) made it a popular place for movies to be shot, including parts of Proud Rebel in 1958.
