1. False Solomon's Seal Marker
Inscription. Old herbalists called this plant Seal of the Blessed Virgin and was known in England as Lady's seal. It was associated by these names because of the curious seal-like marks left on the rhizome when a stem is shed. These marks were said to resemble seals or signets (ring) which were used during the Middle Ages. All letters or documents of importance during that time were sealed with hor wax. The hot wax was then pressed down upon with a seal or signet. A letter or document delivered with an unbroken seal verified the authenticity of the document.
