St. George in Washington County, Utah — The American Mountains (Southwest)
Watermaster
Water was the key to developing the St. George area. No one was more important than the person who managed the distribution of irrigation water for the fields. For over 40 years Rulon "Boots" Barney Cox served as Watermaster.
Everyone remembers going into the Cox Dairy with genial owners, "Boots" and Rita, to buy fresh milk from the big cooler. Born and raised in St. George, Boots was a star athlete in school and ardent fan of the Dixie Roundup Rodeo. At the Rodeo's 50th Anniversary, he was officially recognized for never missing a rodeo.
Typical of the strength and courage it took to build this community, "Boots" Cox truly represents those characteristics. It is our privilege to honor him with this monument.
Dedicated to Our Ancestor
Donated by the Rulon Cox Family.
Erected 2007.
