Inscription.
On April 30, 1745, construction of Northborough's first meeting house began on this site that was donated by Captain James Eager. Completed in 1756, the building measured 46 feet long and 36 feet wide and had 20 pews and an upper gallery. The first meeting house was sold at a public auction, moved, and made into a barn. The image shown is of the second meeting house, which was built on the same spot in 1808 and was destroyed by fire in 1945. Only the bell, cast by the Paul Revere and Sons foundry in 1809, survived and now stands on the church grounds. The current building was dedicated in 1948.
