Inscription.
The Nyac 2 1/2, as this model dredge is known, was given to James K. Crowdy in 1938. Crowdy, President of the New York-Alaska Gold Dredging Corp. of Nyac, Alaska, was presented this model by the Washington Iron Works of Seattle. The working model measures 5ft by 7ft, with stacker and bucket line spans 14ft when in actual operation.

The Dredge was given to the University of Alaska School of Mines in 1958 for use as a laboratory piece and as a visitor attraction showing the importance of dredging in Alaska's history.

In 2019 the University of Alaska Fairbanks donated the model dredge to the Pioneers of Alaska Museum to be preserved and displayed.
