1. Fairbury Windmill Marker
The Fairbury No. 33 earned its name from Fairbury, Neb. where they were manufactured until the late 1940's. Fairbury No. 33 mills were known as the New Deal windmill in an effort to survive the depressed economic conditions of the 1930's, being manufactured in 6 & 8 foot sizes. This cheaper version of the Fairbury No. 7 kept the boys working through the Depression.
The Fairbury No. 33 is identical to the Fairbury No. 7, except for the inscription on the vane sheet, No. 33 along with abbreviated name and location of manufacturer.

Excerpt: Fairbury was better situated than many communities to weather the Great Depression. Beside the railroad, it had a variety of industries, including the Fairbury Windmill Company, with a payroll of 50 people in 1930.
