1. David Bradley Windmill Marker
This windmill was sold by Sears & Roebuck Co. through their mail order catalog, based in Chicago, Il. The David Bradley was identical to the Monitor W series manufactured by Baker Mfg. in Evansville, Wisconsin. The only difference between the David Bradley and the Monitor was their name. The vane on this David Bradley is vertical instead of horizontal, attempting to make it more streamlined. This unique feature allows us to date it being built in the 1940's or 50's. The red and white paint scheme are traditional colors used on many windmills.
These mills were sold from 1933 to the 1960's.

2. David Bradley Windmill Detail
Excerpt: In 1832, David Bradley, a young pioneer mechanic and foundryman in Chicago, designed and built a plow that turned its own furrow. Bradley designed this plow specifically with the boggy, heavy, virgin prairie of the Midwest in mind. The success of this plow made David Bradley an important manufacturer of farm equipment.(Submitted on September 28, 2024, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)At first, David Bradley manufactured a wide range of agricultural items, including wagons, rakes, binders, planters and more. As Sears did with many of its popular brands, the company added many other products under the name of David Bradley. By the mid-20th century, the Bradley line swelled to include lawn and garden equipment, chain saws, furniture, barbecue grills and other items.
