1. Mini Golf, Mini Prairie Marker

Inscription. When early settlers arrived to Illinois much of the region was covered with prairie plants. The prairie ecosystem adapted to the environmental conditions of the area: extreme heat and drought in the summers, and quick freezing and cold winters. The prairie plants had to deal with large grazing animals, like bison, and frequent wildfires caused by lightning and people. The plants survived thanks to a deep root system that could collect water during droughts and by having their growing heads below the surface, providing protection from fire and grazing animals.
