I am called Néechxwúduyaa (Which means 'packed along the beach') I am of the Eagle Side, Dakl'awéidí clan (People of the Inland Sandbar · Killer Whale) From the Killer Whale Dorsal Fin House. We are Jilkáat Peoples (Winter Fish Cache) My father's peoples are the Lukaax. ádi (People on the Point · Raven Sockeye) We are also Scottish.
My piece is a double eagle I have titled 'Reflection.' I created this piece during the heart of the pandemic, when we were all searching for strength and wisdom. For me, that meant looking to my ancestors, and most importantly my grandfather, Silas Dennis, who passed away when I was just a teen. He was also of the Eagle moiety and Killer Whale house. To me, he and my grandmother both embodied strength. The heads of our family, the ones that held everything together. I was looking to them, and the example they set for my family, for the guidance I needed at the time. It also represents me looking at

The Skagway Traditional Council & Municipality of Skagway partnered on this project to bring local indigenous art to a public place in Shgagwei on the Traditional Lands of the Lkoot Kwáan (Chilkoot Lingít people).
