large central lawn bordered by curved paths offers a clear view from the south-facing stands. Coolness is to be found near the natural pond or in the shelter of birch, maple and flowering cherry trees. From rue Chanzy, two paths enclose clumps of bamboo and perennials. Benches nestle in the hollows of hornbeams and photinias.

The name of the garden refers to the old folly - or country house - built in 1673 by Maximilien Titon, director of the royal arms factories. In 1765, it was transformed by Maximilien Réveillon into a wallpaper factory, which became the royal factory in 1784. Hot air balloons were designed there, partly made of paper. It was here that the first captive flight carrying men took place on October 17, 1783, rising to a height of 100 m. Heralding the French Revolution, a riot in April 1789 largely destroyed the factory, which then employed nearly 300 workers. Many industrial and craft businesses then set up shop until the creation of this garden.
