1. C. A. Smith and Sons Building Marker

Inscription. Built in 1895 for A.J. Hunt and operated as a saloon until prohibition closed its doors in 1898. Purchased by Charles A. Smith in 1910, it remained in the Smith and Sons Estate until 1968. The gr. gr. grandson of C.A. Smith acquired ownership in 1979. Drug stores occupied the building for over 62 years with the first one operated by the Board brothers in 1898. Three longtime Mansfield physicians, Dr. Harry Nifong, Dr. J.N. Thomas and Dr. Raymond Thomas had offices in the rear of the building.

Erected 1989 by City of Mansfield.
