Francis L. Haley
a member of the Pennsylvania State Police force, as he fell at this spot mortally wounded by a bullet fired by the escaping robber of the Abbottstown State Bank, located 27 miles east of here, along the Lincoln Highway.
Trooper Haley's motorcycle carried him across the Adams-Franklin county line as death came. He was the 14th State Policeman killed in action.
The assassin was later arrested, tried, convicted and electrocuted.
