On December 6, 1935, Officer Shaw was killed in the line of duty when his vehicle was struck by a fuel tanker while transporting a prisoner.

Detective Russell Pettie

January 20, 1954
On January 20, 1954, Detective Pettie was fatally shot while serving an arrest warrant.

1. About the memorial
While most law enforcement memorials do not serve as historical markers on their own, this one does. While succinct, each plaque shares a narrative for an officer. Additionally, one of the officers was an eventual casualty of the September 11 attacks.
