1. Hersheypark's 24 Inch Gauge Dry Gulch Railroad Marker

Inscription. A product of the Crown Metal Products Co., is an attempt to depict a railroad of the era of the 1860's and 1870's in the West. Indian villages were common sites along the route of the "ribbon of steel" which invaded the natives hunting grounds. Near the work camps of the railroad builders, saloons and gambling halls were established to separate the workers from their hard-earned wages. As the camps moved on to keep up with the ever-advancing rails the keepers of the saloons and gambling halls moved with them, leaving ghost towns behind. Our steam locomotive is an authentic scale replica of an actual railroad locomotive. The "chuff-chuff" you hear is not simulated, it is actual steam.
