1. Marga Komplé Marker
Was in 1956 de eerste vrouwelijke minister van Nederland. Marga Klompé had natuurkunde, scheikunde en -tot aan de sluiting van de universiteit door de Duitse bezettergeneeskunde gestudeerd. In de oorlog zat ze in het verzet. Na een carrière in het onderwijs kwam ze in de politiek terecht. Hier bracht ze als KVP-minister van Maatschappelijk Werk de Algemene Bijstandswet tot stand, waardoor voortaan elke volwassene in Nederland verzekerd was van een uitkering. Klompé had veel gezag in het parlement en werd om de serieuze aanpak van haar werk door mannelijke collega's vriendschappelijk geplaagd. Na haar politieke loopbaan werd ze eervol benoemd tot Minister van Staat (ook als eerste vrouw van Nederland) en stortte ze zich op haar kerkelijk werk. In 1982 verleende de Universiteit van Tilburg haar een eredoctoraat vanwege haar zoektocht naar een sociale en betekenisvolle samenleving.
Was the first female minister of the Netherlands in 1956. Marga Klompé had studied physics, chemistry and - until the university was closed by the German occupiers - medicine. During the war she was in the resistance. After a career in education she ended up in politics. Here she brought about the General Assistance Act as KVP Minister of Social Work, which from then on ensured that every adult in the Netherlands would receive a benefit. Klompé had a lot of authority in parliament and was teased in a friendly way by male colleagues for the serious approach to her work. After her political career she was honourably appointed Minister of State (also as the first woman in the Netherlands) and she devoted herself to her church work. In 1982 the University of Tilburg awarded her an honorary doctorate for her quest for a social and meaningful society.

Klompé became the first female member of the Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community (the predecessor of the current European Parliament), which held its first session in 1952.
In 1956, she gave up her mandate to become a member of the Dutch centre-left coalition under Prime Minister Willem Drees. She became Minister of Social Affairs and thus also the first female minister in the Netherlands.
