Several doctors have lived in the house and a few kept their offices on the ground level of the house., A fire once destroyed part of the house and when it was rebuilt the style of the dormers was changed., At one time the home was owned by Captain Obed Andrews. The story was told, and not denied by the captain, that during a violent storm at sea he was washed overboard by a monstrous wave that broke over his ship's bow. Remarkably, he was then dropped back onto the deck when the wave crested.
