Regarding St. Francis Medical Center Cross and Doors. The St. Francis Health System was established in 1865 in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. In 1919 the Sisters of Saint Francis of Millvale established the St. Francis Hospital Training School of Nurses. The hospital was shut down in 2002 and bought out by University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children's Hospital.
