Wadsworth Trail

Established in 1864 from St. Cloud to Fort Wadsworth, later called Fort Sisseton.

This trail was used by soldiers and traders who came up the Mississippi River by boat; it passed through Sauk Centre, Gager's Station (which was located four and one-half miles north and east of this spot) Toqua, Browns Valley and the government agency on the Sisseton Reservation.
 
Erected 1929 by Wadsworth Trail Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
