On Friday, June 5, 2020, the largest rally in PEI’s history took place. Organized by the Black Cultural Society of PEI, thousands marched through downtown Charlottetown to support racial justice and Black Lives Matter. A week later, Gord McNeilly the province’s first black MLA, tabled a petition calling for extensive policy reviews. This led to the establishment of an Anti-Racism Office within the Executive `Council of the PEI Government.
