Inscription.  
Myrtle “Dolly” Gallant was determined to be a nurse. Denied entry to Charlestown nursing school because she was Black, Dolly studied at St. Martha’s in Antigonish. Graduating with honors in 1946, Dolly returned home to work at Charlottetown Hospital. Many decades later, Dolly was still remembered for her kindness by former patients and their families.

Myrtle “Dolly” Gallant était déterminée à devenir infirmière. Refuseé à l’école d’infirmières de Charlottetown parce qu’elle était noire, Dolly a étudié à St. Martha’s à Antigonish. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme avec mention en 1946, Dolly retourne chez elle pour travailler à l’hôpital de Charlottetown. Plusieurs décennies plus tard, d’anciens patients et leurs familles se souviennent encore de la gentillesse de Dolly.
