1. White Ash Marker

Inscription. This large tree of rich woodlands was often planted as a street tree because of its outstanding fall color, which varies from yellow to red or maroon. Mature trees possess distinctive diamond-shaped furrows in their bark. Its wood, which is strong, hard, and relatively light weight, is the preferred wood for baseball bats, canoe paddles, snowshoes, and hocky sticks. The emerald ash borer has killed many of these trees in recent years.
