Ann Jarvis Greely (1831-1914, photo inset below) at twenty, purchased a dry goods store and grew it to carry high quality apparel. In 1895 she was authorized by the state legislature to practice medicine. Ann strongly supported temperance and a woman's right to vote.
Mary Ann Clark (1860-1943) went to New York to pursue Art and later study Botany. In 1894 she began work as a gardener. Mary Ann purchased greenhouses and moved them to her residence. M.A. Clark, Inc was founded and remained until the 1990's.
Assunta Rigali Luchini (1875-1951) born in Fornaci di Barga, Italy, moved to the United States in 1901 with her husband and daughter. After her husband's death, Assunta took over the family business. Assunta grew the business to include restaurants in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor.

Assunta Rigali Luchini (1875-1951), née à Fornaci di Braga en Italie, émigra aux États-Unis avec son mari et sa fille en 1901. A la mort de son époux, elle le remplaça à la tête de l'entreprise familiale qu'elle développa en acquérant des restaurants à Ellsworth et à Bar Harbor.
