1. Burnap Cottage Marker
Inscription.
Built in 1898 on Woodring Point, this cottage was purchased by Hiram Burnap in 1902 to be part of his fishing retreat. It was sold several times until new owners built a two-story addition in 1946. The addition was removed when the cottage was brought to the Historical Village and restored. It once overlooked both San Carlos Bay and Tarpon Bay. It is said that a traveling preacher also used the building for Sunday services. It now houses a lens from the Sanibel Lighthouse and artifacts from the Algiers, a ferry turned into riverboat mansion and brought ashore on Middle Gulf Beach in 1959.
