Inscription. In the canal era Lock 14 was platted as a community that would include a mill, homes and a church.

The town got started, but when the mill went out of business, the town withered away to what you see today. Lock 14 North was originally timber.

At the turn of the 20th century it was made into concrete. Modern reconstruction of Lock 14 was completed in 2003 and a parking lot added.
