1. Morning Glories Marker
Inscription. Called "The Springwood" in the 1924 Sears Roebuck Modern Homes Catalog, it arrived by barge in 30,000 pieces and was assembled by carpenters for the Mayer family in 1926. Although electricity wouldn't arrive on Sanibel for another 20 years, this home had its own generator that provided electricity and indoor plumbing. It sat on the bay on Bird Lane, just west of Bailey Road.
