Rebeautification of Park
In 1969, under the guidance of Dr. Charles W. Mackenbach, then president of the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce permission was granted from the American Legion post to re-beautify Memorial Park.
Through the generous contributions of the citizens of St. Marys, $7,000.00 was raised.
Markers to identify the trees, native to this area were placed. The Manbeck Nursery was awarded the contract to do the re-beautification.
Much credit for this project must be given to Miss K.C. Geiger, editor of the Evening Leader, for the papers generous support.
A grant has been made available by the Mackenbach Family, to perpetuate the plantings & beautification of Memorial Park.
