Inscription.
Was made possible through the generosity of
Edward and Marion Knight
President of the Toledo Zoo board from 1948 to 1951, Edward "Eb" Knight was instrumental in bringing
the original Safari Railroad to the Toledo Zoo in 1950.

The original Safari Railroad, located on the south side of the zoo,
consisted of a live steam engine and four coaches,
which held eight children or four adults each.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Eb and dozens of other volunteers
who spent their Saturdays preparing the railroad and laying the track, hundreds of thousands of zoo visitors had the opportunity
to ride the rails on the original Safari Railroad.

Erected by The Toledo Zoo.
