1. Stoughton Town Hall Marker
The Stoughton Town Hall was completed in 1881 at a cost of $50,621. It was an all-purpose "Town House" containing the library until 1903, the post office until 1910, the fire department until 1927 and the police department until 1959. Theatrical performances, high school graduations, film showings and basketball games took place in the Great Hall on the third floor, which contained no offices at that time. The portico and flagpole have since been removed.

Horse-drawn fire wagon near the entrance to the fire station at the rear of the building. The horses were kept in a nearby, but separate stable to lessen the risk of fire to the building. As fire apparatus got motorized and larger, it was increasingly difficult to enter and exit the facility. The current fire station was built on Freeman Street in 1927.
