1. Cabin #7: Townsend / Mayo Marker
Inscription. Original owner: Wilson Bailey Townsend was president of Little River Railroad and Lumber Company. The town of "Townsend" is named after him. He leased the land to the Appalachian Club in Knoxville to build a clubhouse and cabins for its members. The original cabin was built out of two set-off cabins from the logging company.

Other owners: In 1924, the cabin was bought by Dale R. Mayo. He had been prominent Knoxville businessman since his store opened in 1878 The cabin stayed in the family until the lease was transferred to the government in 2001. The small white building behind the cabin was the servant's quarters built about 1920.
