In a bit of irony considering the original marker's statement of "Imperishable as granite," a bronze plaque at the base states, "The veterans' names shown above have become illegible due to the ravages of time. A listing of these names is available for review in the office of the Circuit Court Clerk, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m."
