Regarding Itsenainen Suomi / Independent Finland. After the October Revolution, Finland declared independence from the Russian Empire, Dec. 6, 1917, This followed the Bolsheviks (led by Vladimir Lenin) taking power in Russia. (Lenin led the Bolsheviks, a far-left faction of the Russian Social-Democratic Workers' Party that aimed to establish a "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" to hold power until Russia was modernized.)
