1. Daniel Boone - Pioneer side of the marker

Inscription. Daniel Boone - Pioneer Born, Pa., 1734. Died, Mo., 1820. Married Rebecca Boone, 1756, N.C. First trip to Kentucky, 1767. Set up Ft. Boonesborough, 1775, surveyed Wilderness Trail. Surveyor, colonist, legislator and sheriff. Captured by British-aligned Shawnee in 1778. Escaped and defended Boonesborough. Emigrated to Missouri in 1799.
Grave of Daniel Boone In the cemetery stands a monument to Daniel & Rebecca Boone, erected by the Commonwealth in 1860 as a tribute to the family. Their remains were brought back to Kentucky from Missouri and reinterred September 13, 1845. The monument was built by John Haley. Scenes of the Boones lives were added to the monument in 1862.
