Inscription.  
Der auffällige Kreuzstein wird wohl an einer Straße in Reupelsdorf gestanden haben und wurde 1731 mit der Inschrift versehen und vermutlich danach in die Mauer eingesetzt. Die Abkürzungen sind schwer zu deuten. „D I K“ dürfte Dreifaltigkeit bedeuten.

Im Gegensatz zu zahlreichen Bildstöcken hat sich der Stifter der Inschrift mit „H M-K" bescheiden gegeben und seinen Namen nur durch die heute nicht mehr auflösbaren Kürzel wiedergegeben. Die Bedeutung von „R VL" ist ebenfalls schwer einzuschätzen.

Es müsste noch ein Satzteil folgen, der erläutert, was der Stifter zu Ehren der Heiligsten Dreifaltigkeit 1731 veranlasst hat. Gewöhnlich folgt hier bei Bildstöcken „… hat errichten lassen“ oder ähnlich. Da das Steinkreuz aber schon vorhanden war und nur die Inschrift eingemeisselt wurde, war deshalb wohl ein anderer Text vorgesehen.

(English translation:)
This striking cross stone probably stood on a street in Reupelsdorf and was inscribed in 1731 and probably set into the wall afterwards. The abbreviations are difficult to interpret. "D I K" probably means Trinity.

In contrast to many wayside shrines, the donor was modest in the inscription "H M-K" and only gave his name using abbreviations that are no longer resolvable today. The meaning

A sentence should follow that explains what the donor did in honor of the Holy Trinity in 1731. Usually, with wayside shrines, this is followed by "... had erected" or something similar. However, since the stone cross was already there and only the inscription was chiseled in, a different text was probably intended.

which could be translated thusly: On January 6, 1731, H M K had it renovated and erected in honor of the Holy Trinity.
