1. Stadtkirche Heilig Dreifaltigkeit / Holy Trinity City Church Marker
Die evangelische „Stadtkirche Heilig Dreifaltigkeit", mit ihren zwei 50 m hohen Türmen deutet in den Untergeschossen des Nordturms auf erhaltene Reste eines Vorgängerbaus hin. Dieser wurde am 9. November 1194 geweiht. Zwischen 1437 und 1495 erfolgt der jetzige Bau. Seit 1668 haben die Türme ihre Gestalt mit welschen Hauben (glockenförmig, geschweiftes Turmdach). Bereits 1995 unter der Leitung von R. Hannig und ab 2011 unter M. Wintergerst, fanden Ausgrabungen auf dem Kirchplatz statt. So wurden Schichtaufbauten, Überreste des im 16.Jh. aufgelösten Friedhofs und Erkenntnisse zur Vorgeschichte der Kirche ermittelt.

2022 wurde ein barrierefreier Umgang geschaffen. Dieser ermöglicht einen besseren Zugang für Rollstuhlfahrer und den Nutzern von Rollatoren. Daher sah sich die Stadt Bayreuth 2021 veranlasst, eine archäologische Voruntersuchung durchzuführen. Dies führte zu drei Sondagen, zwei an den Stirnseiten der Kirche, eine nördlich davon. Die ersten beiden gaben lediglich Frostschutz preis. Hingegen deutet die Nördliche auf die Auflösung des Friedhofs Ende des 16. Jh. hin.

The Protestant "Stadtkirche Heilig Dreifaltigkeit", with its two 50 m high towers, indicates preserving remains of a predecessor building in the underfloor of the north tower. This was consecrated on 9 November 1194. Between 1437 and 1495 construction of the current building took place. Since 1668 the towers have their shape with Welschen caps. Already in 1995 under the direction of R. Hannig and from 2011 under M. Wintergerst, excavations took place at the church square. As such layers were built, remains of the in the 16th century dissolved cemetery and knowledge about the history of the church were determined.
Reverse Side
Barrier-free access was created in 2022. This allows better access for wheelchair users and users of wheeled walking frames. Therefore, the city of Bayreuth was reluctant to carry out an archaeological preliminary examination. This led into three sondages, two at the face side of the church, and one to the north of it. The first two only revealed antifreeze. However the northern part pointed to the dissolution of the cemetary and the end of the 16th century.
