Belleville in Hastings County, Ontario — Central Canada (North America)
Former Councillor Wolf Tausendfreund
Years of Service 1985-2000
Wolf Tausendfreund served the City of Belleville as a Councillor, valued citizen and later as a Superior Court Judge.
During his 15-year tenure as a Councillor, Wolf strived for community improvement and wellness initiatives. As a Councillor, he sat as a member and Chair on several committees, including the Planning Advisory Committee, the Lahr-Belleville Student Exchange Committee and the Belleville Police Services Board.
As a private citizen, Wolf sequentially served in Belleville as President of the YMCA, the Rotary Club and the Sales and Ad Club. He was also a member of the YMCA National Board and was later appointed by the Governor General as an Officer of the YMCA Fellowship of Honour.
Wolf was a founding partner of the law firm O'Flynn, Weese, Tausendfreund LLP on Bridge Street East where he spent the majority of his career as a lawyer until his appointment in 2006 to the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, presiding at the Quinte Courthouse on Bridge Street West.
Having served as a Councillor in City Hall, starting his legal career on Bridge Street East and ending his legal career on Bridge Street West, this Commons Area represents the fitting midpoint of Wolf's contributions to Belleville. Accordingly, this Commons Area is now named after former Councillor and now retired Justice Tausendfreund to recognize and honour his dedication and commitment to the people of the City of Belleville.
